Thanks to Dottie and Charlene for all the hard work on the Vegas Reunion; it was great! Cheers to Larry and Phillip; you survived.
I really liked the Reunion in Vegas. I think we reached perfection; what worked was great, and what didn't led us to make desicions. For example, absent family members lead us to desire reunions more often, and scheduled activities gave time to do things according to individual tastes as well as look forward to family time.
Alice suggested, and I agree, that the next reunion should start on Friday and everyone should plan to fly out on Tuesday am. That's what we planned; if you need to leave sooner, or later, individual adaptations may apply.
Plan A Friday evening; Man-nite. Every one arrives, and if you arrive in time for dinner, boy are you in for a treat! The boys will be grillin' and chillin' and creating dutch oven dessert masterpieces. (alternative: BBQ brisket and fixin's). Hopefully we will have access to a pool.
Saturday afternoon; we'll be heading downtown to see the Alamo, Mexician Market, Riverwalk, the mall on the Riverwalk, souvenir shops of all sorts, and what ever else meets your fancy (Wax Museum/Ripley's/whatever) . There are even boats that give clever little tours. We'll all meet for dinner and get a truly Mexican flavor at Mi Tierra resturant, complete with a serenade. What time we meet won't matter because it's open 24 hours, and has a Mexican bakery so you can pick up breakfast or dessert on the way home.
Sunday around 10am to 10:20 (9 :45 for people who are chronically late); we will have our family photos taken; why? Because that is the best time for the light. The pictures will be taken by our official family reunion photographer. We will then head, most likely, to Sea World where we will have a grand time and meet for an afternoon meal, and then you can come or go as long as you like.
Monday: most likely head out to Schlitterbahn. We'll again gather for an afternoon meal and then disperse. I'm not sure what facilities are available; the committee members responsible will have to go and investigate the park next summer... poor us.
Oh, that's it! Times up! Go home! It seems so short on paper. Anyway, everthing thing is up for change, and there are 25 more letters for future plans and revisions. Comments are welcome, and will dismissed immediately.... I mean, be thoughtfully considered.
